This slice-of-life manga just tells the story of a group of teenage friends who enjoy going camping. They talk about camping equipment, camp sites, and camping techniques. And we see them going camping, and enjoying themselves. There's no high drama, no danger, no serious conflict. Nobody gets chased by bears or trapped in a snowstorm. It's gentle, it's adorable, and I love it.

This manga is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin, girls go camping. Lots of natural vistas and fun interactions between the campers. If you're following along with the anime, this volume covers to the end of episode 4.The translation is also good, but there were a couple of errors in the Kindle version. The inner cover page and the table of contents appears to be for the second volume rather than the first. Also, the translation seemed a bit off on one of the pages (148, "I'll be to Chino soon"). However the pinecone saying hello was translated as "Cone-nichiwa", so that made up for everything as far as I was concerned.

The first volume effortlessly takes you on a trip to the outdoors in the middle of winter, and makes it seem pleasant even if you have never camped before in your life, let alone in the cold!The story begins with a chance meeting between Rin and Nadeshiko at a campsite near Mt. Fuji. Rin, usually a solo camper, helps Nadeshiko out when she accidentally naps until nightfall. Spending time with Rin and seeing Mt.Fuji in the moonlight both leave quite an impression on Nadeshiko, who decides to leap feet-first into camping, and eagerly joins her new school's outdoor club.It's a slow-paced story with lots of charm and little jokes, and few useful camping tips here and there. Like its namesake, the series bets a lot on being relaxing and lighthearted, and I think it is safe to say that it pays off. There's no big melodrama to be found here, just a group of highschoolers all connected by their fondness for camping. From the outdoor club's humble beginnings, to Rin's 'like a pro' solo trips, this book covers a pretty broad perspective on the pastime.This is a good book to read at a scenic spot of your choice with a beverage close by. Be it by a campfire in winter, a fireplace at home, or in the shade by the poolside if it happens to be summer where you are.

I started the Laid-Back Camp series via the anime, and had to buy the manga once I realized it was out. It's just as relaxed and enjoyable, and a great addition to my manga collection. I can't wait for the next volume!

I love this series so far! Laid-back is the perfect way to describe it. The characters are all really likeable, and I love the art style. They even give you real camping tips, so it feels sorta educational. It really makes me want to go camping, or at lease hang outside for a bit! I would totally recommend this to anyone who likes Slice of Life manga!
